Which Architectural Style Are You?

Have you ever asked yourself this question?

I've asked myself that question many times while taking photos of buildings. Pittsburgh is rich with a variety of architectural styles ranging from Victorian to Neoclassical to Post-Modern. Each style reflects the society's taste at the time it was constructed; the ornate Victorian architecture was all the rage in the late 19th and early 20th century. It's interesting to note that today's trend is all about glass-clad structures void of much detailed ornamentation. Regardless, there is much to admire about any architecture style (yes even brutalist architecture).

One of the questions I ask myself is, does my preference for a type of architecture shed light on my style preferences? Possibly, yes.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation created a quiz for the curious to take. Answer a few questions and the quiz pairs you with an architectural style that matches your preferences. Next time you walk, bike, bus, ride the train or drive, look for your architecture match!
